Academics/Community service

The image that I chose is the action shot of a paint speaker. If you don know what I'm talking about let me explain. You put a piece of thin plastic and place it on a large speaker then you pour paint on it. Once you place the paint you play music loud and the paint should bounce up and down with the rhythm of the sound waves. Once captured in a photo the image should come out to be a beautiful action shot of the paint. Its a very beautiful piece if shot correctly at the right angle. And that is why I chose it. Perfect angle, wonderful focus of the paint. There is beautiful balance and great framing, but you could have avoided some of those nasty mergers if the person moved out of the way.

1. In a classroom full of action and life. That would be the perfect place to shoot photos like these.

2. I would actually like to visit a P.E. class, or a chemistry class that has a lab that day.

3. I will really focus, and think before I shoot. And once I thought it through try to capture a wonderful image.

The Story

The Story

The Story

This image can be anything because so much is join going on in the picture. It could be a memorial. A prayer. A funeral. Pretty much anything.

Action and Emotion

Surprised. that is the emotion in the girls face. Surprise, and wonder  in her eyes. Wonder because obviously she is happy with what just happened.

Filling the Frame

This picture is not my favorite, but it does show balance and I don't have my eyes just in one place.

This picture actually makes sense on why they photoshopped it. And it doesn't change your opinion on it and doesn't make it seem like its not actually happening.

Photoshop

1. This essay explains how Photoshop can get you in huge trouble and could ruin your working job. Photoshop has been used for many things, but it could also get you in serious trouble when used incorrectly.

2. Obviously photoshopped was created to help the photographer improve his pictures, and transform them into something new.

The photos were unique and different and I would not have thought of them in the first place at all.

They are also very original and new.

I think that the locker pictures could could have been taken at a better angle.

Overall these pictures were unique.

Post Shoot Reflection

1. Their were really not may challenges with this shoot it was very easy, but one thing that did bother me was finding good lighting.

2. Focus, I was trying to get a good focus on each picture. And with the bad lighting it was very hard.

3. I would follow those rules and get better pictures in general. After learning some basic rules I looked back on my pictures and I think wow my pictures sucked.

4. Nothing I would change the whole thing.

6. Yes i would love to shoot the same prompts again just to improve them. Especially after learning the rules.

Avoiding Mergers
This photographer is not avoiding his/her mergers. I'm seeing the lady in the bright red shirt more than the huge explosion on the world trade center. The small black building is also ruining the image completely. I believe that is is just a bad picture.

FRAMING
This picture is a combination of a lot of elements, but is also fell into the category of framing. The window frames a building that is completely destroyed due to the attack. And all the damage on the inside of the window leads you to the true and del damage of the photo.
BALANCE
I'm till not really sure what balance really is, but my interpretation is that the picture is not just focused on one abject but your eyes move around the picture and you look at the photo from every perspective.
LINE
This photo is a good example of line because your eye view is being taken by the road . Fist you read the sign, but then your eye moves to the road. As you notice with the sign that all flights are cancelled so the journey to the airport is totally empty.
Rule of Thirds

This photo is a good example of rule of thirds because of the placing of the mans head right at the intersection and the blue part of the American flag. This photo shows emotion and the state of how the people were after the attack.

Simplicity
This picture's deft is obviously not simple, but its style is. The background is not hogging the photo and not making it hard to see the actual focus of the photo. Most of the background is gone due to the smoke coming out of the building. But that is also what makes you try to find where the smoke is coming from, and you get led to the focus point.

National Geographic

Vaclav Krpelik

This is the photo I chose as my favorite. This photo was taken at a great moment with fantastic lighting especially for a picture underwater. The photo also holds a great angle to make the man in the photo look longer and add more effect to it. Overall this picture is just awesome!

I would probably take a picture to add into this contest about the great people and experiences I have with those great people in my life. These pictures need to show skill and experience and have an impact on the viewer, so I don't wish to enter this contest anytime soon especially to the lack of knowledge I have with a camera.

Touching People

       1. This project is creative and fun. Its a new challenge that involves some confidence and being open with people.

       2. If someone approached me with a camera and told me to grab a stranger and touch them for a picture… I WOULD TOTALLY DO IT!

       3. It would definitely be fun to go out and shoot unusual photos, its always fun to try something new and make it your own .

       4. The photography could have been better, such as lighting, placing, and a creative twitch. But overall these pictures were fun to look at, knowing the fact that all these people are strangers and were told to touch each there for some picture.
"La Jeune Fille a la Fleur" by Marc Riboud, October 21, 1967

1. I chose this photo because of the message is gives to the viewer. There is men with guns in the background and a woman placing a flower on one of the guns. A flower can represent peace and beauty, so in this picture "flower power" is overcoming the war.

2. The photographer obviously knew what he was doing and saw this perfect opportunity to capture this trifling moment in the soldiers and hatred flowing on one side of the photo.

3. I believe this photo made the top 40 is of the message it brings in and putting in display all the emotions flowing through the photo shows this photographer knew what he was doing and he meant to capture this exact moment in time.

(Photographer not shown) June 6, 1944

1. I chose this image due to the action appearing in it. This photo shows the true scenes of war and and really makes you think.

2. This photo's epic moment and being able to capture it is extraordinary.

3.  This photo made the top 40 probably because of the scene that is being displayed. This scene was real and it actually happened and when you think about it you are grateful to the photographer on capturing this epic moment of troops waging into war.

(no info shown)

1. I chose this photo because of the emotion in the soldier's eyes. What I see is strength in the midst of pain and war.

2.  This photo's outstanding angle and focus.

3. The photos iconic scenery and focus on the emotion on the soldier. Photo's cannot feel emotions, but in this photo all emotions known to man can be brought into this one image.

happy

This photo can be used as rule of thirds the edge of the book would be in the intersection of the lines.

Square

I did not avoid the mergers and I didn't balance it, you could say I didn't follow the rules at all. Even if it is  my picture I believe its bad.

bowie

This picture is rules of thirds. The dogs head is right smack on the intersection.

metal

This picture follows no rules at all, not even simplicity if I got a chance to redo this I would definitely take that chance.

Warm up 9/15

This idea is unique, new, and unheard of.

When i first looked at these photos, it took me about a minute to realize that it was not photoshop but the normal human face upside down.

This idea seems fun and new and i would love to try something like this one day.

The Camera

The Camera

        1. The "camera obscura" is when in a dark room, a tiny holes created in one wall, through the hole light is focused and the outside scene is projected on the opposite wall.

         2. The invention was the understanding of optics and the process of making which causality glass lenses.

         3.  Niepce added *film* to create the first successful photograph.

         4.  The thing that the modern camera has and the camera of Niepce have in common is the function. Light passes through the lens, into the camera, and exposes the film.
          3
         5.  Digital cameras capture images with an electronic sensor called a CCD.

Camera Modes

         1. Auto will completely control flash and exposure.  Program automatic-assist, just point an shoot. Unlike full auto mode, you can usually control flash and a few other camera settings.

         2.  Portrait is used to attempt to blur out the background, camera will try to use the fastest available lens setting. Mostly used for portraits of faces.

         3. Sports is used to freeze motion, camera will use the highest shutter speed possible. Used mostly when photographing sports or motions.

The Half Press

         1. A half press is useful on a camera because there is faster camera response time, more control over focus, and encourages better composition.

Controlling Flash

         1. This symbol means no flash. It is used when you don't want flash at all and you want to use the natural light.

         2. This symbol means Auto-flash. It is used so when you press the trigger the flash automatically comes on.

Introduction to Exposure

         1. When there is to much light in a picture the image will wash out.

         2. When theres not enough light the picture will be to dark and you won't be able to see it.

Universal Stop

         1. The term "stop" is used in every aspect of photography to represent a relative change in the brightness of light.

         2. It would be 2 stops brighter.

         3. It would be 4 stops brighter.

Shutter and Aperture

          1. The longer exposers (like 1 second) give much more light to the film than a 1/1000 of a second exposure.

          2. Shorter shutter don't give the film enough light.

          4. Aperture controls brightness.

         5. You make a larger opening in the aperture and it gives it more light.

Christian's best and worst

Christian's Best
This is Christian's best picture. I classified this picture as the best because of the good lighting,   the way that she posed, and the way the entire photo balances but also making Christian stand out. Probably my favorite part of this picture it the lighting. The lighting made Christian's skin look clearer and made her stand out more as the actual focus point of the picture.

Christians 's Worst
This is Christian's worst picture. I classified this picture as the worst because of the bad lighting, poor focus,  and the whole picture not being in balance.  The man in the background gives you something else to look at although Christian was the main point of the picture. The lighting is also dark and there is very poor focus.
