Student of the month final draft

Student of the month
By: Renata Del Pozo

Last February Reagan Friedman became the first freshman to become student of the month at Bowie High School.
Every month a student is chosen to represent the title of student of the month. This year a very lucky freshman was voted in to be the first freshman to hold that title. To hold the title the student must have outstanding grades and hold likeable personality traits. And Freshman Reagan Friedman was perfect for the job.
“Reagan is probably the kindest freshman I’ve ever met. You probably won’t hear that again in a long time,” says junior Alyssa Motta. According to some student’s freshman are not very likeable. “It’s not that I don’t like them its just that they make it hard to,” says sophomore Mathew Lane. “They are very immature and impulsive, like I’ve never seen a freshman that’s not running around or yelling or just filling up space in general. Like they move in packs they are practically everywhere,” Mathew says. “But for some reason I find Reagan to be like more like one of us, like a junior or sophomore,” Alyssa states. We heard from some a group of seniors that got together to vote for her in a majority. “Yeah, Reagan is practically like a little sister to me,” says senior Steve Miller. “I find her very sweet and funny, and not only that she is smart.”

imovie

1.) Summarize what you watched and read about - let's say 2-3 paragraphs of 3-4 sentences
To basically sum up what i learned, i learned to basically use iMovie for a standard short video. Its pretty simple to use and not very confusing like photoshop or indesign. iMovie is a pretty useful tool and i didn't know you could even add effects to the film with iMovie i thought that was only on other things. Also something new i learned it that you can connect iMovie to your camera.

Splitting and cropping clips to fit a certain time frame is very important in iMovie. To fit into a specific moment and add the effects to it. Splitting is a simple process and it is very necessary in any movie. It will be used.

2.) Tell me one thing that you already knew about iMovie that the website explained
Pretty much like how to put in the clips and to crop and split them to fit a time frame.

3.) Tell me one thing that you learned new today that you didn’t know before.
How to add effects, i didn't even know there were effects.

4.) What are you concerned about with this final project?
i feel pretty confident about this project.

5.) What are you confident you can complete early and have ready to use?
iMovie knowledge I've used it before for another school project.

6.) If I asked you today, what do you think you will do for your video?
something that has to do with cooking. Like video taping me and my cousin make a dish of some sort or something more unique like a stop motion or time lapse of the meal.

1. The last sentence of the story says
"I believe that more and more, we are defining our environments not as the spaces themselves, in terms of the buildings or architecture, but rather by the objects and devices that we buy and surround ourselves with. ... I would like that message to carry through universally," Seymour said.

What do you think about this statement?
I believe that this sentence is very deep and can be taken in different ways.
Do you agree or disagree?

I myself agree. but i believe that other people might not agree its all depends on how they view objects.
As an aspiring photographer how does this make you feel about your photography?
It makes photography mean so much more making it more important. To remember the memories of what you see. It makes it more meaningful and powerful.
2. When you looked through the images, did you want to visit this place and take your camera?
Definetely
3. What do you think it would be like to be the child of someone who worked at this place?
It would be so much fun. Especially if you own a camera.
4. Describe your favorite photo to me.

My favorite photo was of a flower shop. A woman is sitting in the background I'm pretty sure she's the lady that owns the place. Its so beautiful and it would be great to work in some place like that. I absolutely love flowers and so i really like this picture most of all because of that.

Warm Up

1. What is your favorite photo? Either describe it, or figure out a way to post it on your blog.
My favorite picture is probably the one with the reindeer. The picture consists of a large reindeer taking up the majority of the space. And in the back ground is a large mountain range. The picture is fully balanced and its really majestic looking. And its pretty personal also. Because my nickname is Reno which is spanish for reindeer.

2. Does it seem like all of these images could have been taken with a phone?
Not at all. These images look to well taken for it to have been taken with a phone.

3. How much do you think the apps some of the photographers used impacted the image?

It made them look more professional, cleaner, clearer. And under some circumstances it may have even improved lighting.

4. List two tips you think might help your own photography with a phone.
Some editing apps couldn't hurt. And well maybe trying to use some rules of photography to make it easier to focus on one image.
